Frequently Asked Questions

Turkey

Turkey's official currency is the Turkish Lira (TRY), but some places accept Euro and USD at rates set by shop owners, with change given in Lira. Exchange services are available at airports and the main port in Fethiye. For better rates, exchange a small amount at the airport and the rest in town. ATMs throughout Turkey allow cash card withdrawals. Opt for smaller denominations for convenience in transactions, especially for smaller purchases and gratuities.

Indeed, each of our vessels is equipped with complimentary onboard Wi-Fi, enabling you to remain connected to the world and effortlessly share the stunning moments captured during your sailing excursion on social media platforms like Instagram.

The Electronic Visa (e-Visa) Application System, introduced by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey on April 17, 2013, enables seamless online visa acquisition for visitors traveling to Turkey within just 5 minutes through www.evisa.gov.tr. Applicants can secure their visa by providing essential information about their identity, passport, and travel dates, along with the online payment of the visa fee. Tourist visas are valid for 90 days and have varying costs. Some countries' passports grant free entry without a visa; check the list for your country's status. Visas can also be obtained at the airport, but the cost is generally higher. It's important to note that Koda Sail does not assume any responsibility or obligation to assist you in obtaining your visa.

In Turkey, all power outlets follow the European style. Similarly, on our boats, we utilize European sockets with two-hole prongs. If you're not residing in Europe, it's essential to bring an international conversion adapter to ensure the compatibility of your electronic devices with the outlets during your trip.

All the Gulets utilized for our scheduled tours in Turkey come equipped with air conditioning. However, in compliance with Turkish sailing regulations that apply to all boats, including ours, generators cannot be operated in the bays between 1 am and 6 am. Consequently, the Air Conditioning units are inactive during these hours. While anchored outside harbors, our Captains strategically schedule the air conditioning to operate late into the evening to cool cabins before bedtime and again in the early morning until breakfast. In most cases, the cabins remain sufficiently cool for sleeping. However, our boats offer numerous lounge areas where guests can enjoy sleeping under the stars on warm summer nights.

Following a day of coastal exploration and multiple swim breaks, we typically anchor in untouched bays for evening sunset swims and dinner beneath the starlit sky. Occasionally, we might opt for docking at a marina, such as in Kas, offering the opportunity to venture ashore during the evening and immerse ourselves in the charming fishing village and its vibrant nightlife.

As of January 1st, 2023, Croatia officially transitioned from the Croatian Kuna to the Euro. Currency exchange booths can be found in the main square of all the destinations on our itinerary. Typically, the exchange booths at the airport offer less favorable rates, so it's recommended to exchange a small amount to cover initial expenses upon arrival in Split and then exchange the rest in the town. Alternatively, ATMs are easily accessible throughout Croatia, allowing you to use your own Cash Card for currency withdrawal.

While Croatian is the primary language spoken by locals in Croatia, the surge in tourism over the past 7-10 years has led to widespread English proficiency, particularly among the younger population. Croatia is acknowledged as one of the European countries with a high level of English fluency.

Typically, gulets accommodate around 16 passengers, resulting in group sizes of 12 to 16 individuals per boat. During peak seasons, numerous gulets, including those from our company and others, may form a flotilla. This allows for opportunities to rendezvous with fellow guests from various vessels at swim stops and local villages.
